TACO TIME OPENS FIRST CANTINA FAST CASUAL RESTAURANT IN CALGARY

President Ken Pattenden today announced the official opening of Taco Time’s first Cantina, a fast casual restaurant serving authentic Mexican food and alcohol. Located in the trendy Penny Lane building of Calgary’s downtown business district, the 2200 square foot street front Cantina provides seating for approximately 50 people. The centrally located Cantina will also provide take out and delivery services for downtown Calgary customers.

"Our research showed that there was a pent-up demand for authentic Mexican food served in a fast casual manner and in an ambience that featured Mexican decor," says Pattenden. "In our Cantina, every order is made in front of the customer who chooses the flavour and level of seasoning for their meal. Customers really have the best of two worlds - speed and personal choice. They also have the option of having authentic Mexican beer and Sangria with their meal."

Cantina patrons will also hear Mexican music amidst a colorfully decorated restaurant that features numerous artifacts from Mexico. As well, Cantina employees wear specially made uniforms with a distinctive Mexican flare.

Opening week celebrations will include daily food specials. During "Amigo Hour" (4-10 pm) on Tuesday May 27 and Thursday May 29, patrons will be able to enjoy the infectious flamenco and rumba sounds of Calgary-based recording artists Los Morenos.

Pattenden added that the company plans to open two more upscale Cantina restaurants in British Columbia this spring and possible five in total by the end of 2003.
