Press Release
: : 4 August, 2004

In Asia, European products and services have become more prevalent over the last 10 years, as Asian consumers are increasingly exposed to diverse cultures as a result of globalisation and mass consumerism. Recognising the growing popularity of European lifestyle concepts, European companies - franchisors and licensors alike - recognise the strong potential to expand into Asia.

Asia's most established franchising and licensing event, Global Franchising & Licensing2004 (GFL2004) held from September 15-17 at Suntec Singapore, will feature European companies from France, Germany and Spain, as well as companies from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, USA, and Australia.

The Who's Who of the international franchising world will be at GFL to network with visitors, delegates and other corporations to form joint ventures, attract new franchisees and explore new overseas markets. The international diversity of GFL is a huge draw card for exhibitors and visitors alike because it exposes them to unique, trend-setting foreign concepts and opens up the possibility of new ventures.

European Franchises at GFL2004

Concepts from France which will make their foray into foreign markets at GFL2004 include La Boucherie Restaurants, Physiomins International, Epil Centre and La Boite a pizza.

La Boucherie Restaurants is a themed restaurant chain that offers the experience of dining in a traditional french brasserie. With 40 restaurants already opened in France and abroad, the La Boucherie brand is driving forward its global expansion this year, exploring new markets in Asia, Middle East and Eastern Europe. La Boite a Pizza is a highly original concept that marries Italian pizza with a twist of French taste.

Physiomins International and Epil Centre are two beauty franchise concepts that will be part of the French group showcase. Physiomins operates more than 150 slimming centres in 17 countries and retails its in-house cosmetics brand. The company will be setting up new franchises in Europe, China and Singapore. Epil Center specialises in waxing, health and beauty and weight management.
