FAQs
What is RSS?
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" (or "Rich Site Summary") and is a method used by websites to publish a summary of frequently updated content such as news articles, blog posts or podcasts.
What are the benefits of using RSS feeds?
When used with a feed "reader" or "aggregator", you will be alerted as
soon as new content is published. This creates a more efficient
browsing experience and ensures that you never miss an item that
interests you.
Where can I find a feed reader?
There are hundreds of products for viewing RSS feeds - many can
be downloaded for free. The Google
Directory contains a list of some of the most popular tools,
containing both desktop and web-based solutions.
We recommend FeedDemon for PC users and NetNewsWire for Mac users.
For those unable to download and install software, Bloglines, Kinja and Rojo (among others) provide
free news aggregation services that can be accessed through normal
web browsers.
What formats of feed are available on Franchise-chat?
Our feed uses the XML language and is available in RSS 2.0 format.
What is the difference between RSS and XML?
RSS is a dialect of XML (eXtensible Markup Language). RSS uses the
syntax of XML to separate out each story and headline in a file
so that news readers can display them individually.
